Dear Sir or Madam:

As secretary of the National Karate Association of Canada, I am pleased to advise that Karate Quebec is the provincial branch association member of the National Karate Association of Canada, and the member in good standing. Karate Quebec, under the leadership of Mr. Sylvain Berthiaume and Mr. Germain Bisson, has distinguished themselves in many ways. Quebec karate athletes recently won the provincial throphy for the province with the highest number of points at the 1998 Canadian Black Belt Championships in St. Hyacinthe, Quebec. At the recent 1999 Pan Am Games in Winnipeg, a total of six karate athletes; all members of the National Karate Association of Canada, competed with the 625 members Canadian Olympic Association team. Two of our karate athletes won medals for Canada. Miss Bitissima Essadiqi of Quebec, and Ms Lisa Ling of BC each won a bronze medal.

The National Karate Association of Canada has been the governing body for karate in Canada for the past 25 years. The 1999 National Championships held in June, 99 in Vancouver was our 25th anniversary championships. Our role as the national sports federation governing karate in Canada has been recognized by the Canadian Olympic Association and Sports Canada. The COA recognizes only one national sports federation for karate in Canada. The National Karate Association of Canada is an "A" member of the COA and I serve as the "A" Director on the board of the COA.

The National Karate Association of Canada is a member of the World Karate Federation, which is the International Federation fully recognized by the International Olympic Committee. The attached documents confirm this recognition.

The National Karate Association of Canada is the only sports federation in Canada that is recognized by the World Karate Federation.

Yours truly,

Dr. Chee Ling MD

Secretary, National Karate Association of Canada

"A" Director, Canadian Olympic Association
